ECL - English, Spanish, Russian and Slovak for foreigners

We are a registered centre for the preparation courses for international certificates of ECL having its registered office in Pecsi - official languages of the EU and the European languages of English, German, Spanish, Russian, Slovak for foreigners and others. ECL language exams can be taken five times a year (in February, April, June, October and December). For candidats we organize preparation courses where they are familiar with content and parts of the exam. In addition, it is possible to perform a simulated ECL language tests through test samples. The minimum number of candidates per one exam period is 3.

ECL (European Consorcium for the Certificate of Attainment in Modern Languages) assesses the level of oral and written communication of the candidate in various life or professional situations. Uniform principles and reliability are the most important characteristics of the ECL tests. The only language examination system in the European Union which offers testing in fifteen different languages (including Slovak). You can take an ECL language exam in 26 countries in Europe.

1. Reading comprehension - 25 minutes
The candidate must demonstrate the ability to understand the text according to the indicated level. Task types: placing words/phrases back into sentences from a list, matching of short texts/parts of a test/ summaries/titles, etc., questions requiring short answers etc.

2. Written Exam – 50 minutes
There are 2 tasks – to write a text related to the language level on a given topic. Evaluation criteria- adequate task completion, formal accuracy, coherence and grammatical accuracy.

3. Listening comprehension – 25 - 30 minutes
There are 2 tasks. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to understand the text at a given language level.

4. Oral communication – 20 minutes
The candidate must demonstrate the ability to communicate at a given language level and express his view in different situations. Parts of the test - introduction, guided conversation based on given topics and picture description.

Each skill is allocated 25 points each, that is the total score to be achieved at the ECL exam is 100. The complex exam is successful if the candidate reaches at least 40% of the total score in each skill, and a minimum of 60% overall in the four skills. The tests are marked in the country of foreign language and after evaluation the certificates are sent to our training centre.
